Liverpool Watersports Centre Launches Pedalos in the Park
Pedalos & rowing boats are now available to hire at Sefton Park Lake
On Friday 12th August, thumb Liverpool Watersports Centre launched its pedalos & rowing boats in Sefton Park. They were a huge success back in 2012 so will be a welcome addition at the lake over the next few weeks. The launch was attended by local councillors, medicine James Roberts – Deputy Chair Audit & Governance Select Committee, purchase Councillor Laura Robertson-Collins – Chair of the Neighbourhood Select Committee & Stephen Munby – Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods & Waste Services (including parks).
Councillor James Roberts said “I’m really pleased to see the pedalos back on the lake. I loved them back in 2012!” He then went on to say, “It’s lovely, it’s great exercise & good for you. I’d encourage everyone to come out and enjoy it” Liverpool Watersports Centre is run by Local Solutions. It was established in 1979 but moved to its current home at Queen’s Dock in 1995. The project aims to encourage wider participation in watersports by offering affordable activities to the whole community, particularly individuals and groups experiencing economic and social disadvantage. Some of the activities offered include canoes, kayaks, powerboating, water trampoline, open water swimming, swan pedalos, sailing and windsurfing. The pedalos and rowing boats will be available to hire every Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday 11.30am-4.30 pm until 4th September and cost £5 per vessel.
