Liverpool Lime Street Station Upgrade this Autumn
Liverpool Lime Street station is receiving its biggest upgrade since the 19th century. Work will be completed in two phases to allow engineers to remodel and increase the number of station platforms, install overhead line equipment and upgrade track.
This work will enable an extra three services per hour in and out of Lime Street station, including new direct services to Scotland. Longer, better managed platforms will allow bigger trains, with more room for passengers into the station.
With passenger figures expected to double during peak periods by 2043 this work is vital to increase capacity at the station.
Phase one: 30 September – 22 October 2017
In order to complete the first phase of work, there will be changes to journeys through Liverpool Lime Street station. We have a robust transport plan in place, so you can still get from A to B, just with a couple of simple changes to your journey.
In many cases, a rail-to-rail option will be available through the Merseyrail network. Where this has not been possible, every effort has been made to provide high-quality buses with the option of express and local stopping services.
