Get involved in great free cycling activities

If you’re aged over 16 and live, online work or study in Knowsley, salve you can sign up for FREE cycling activities.

What’s available?

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, there is something for you. The free cycling courses, training sessions and community bike rides aim to encourage you to use your bike and make fewer car journeys.  The courses will focus on cyclist training, confidence building, bike safety and maintenance.

Why should I get involved?

By using your bike more and making fewer car journeys, the regular exercise will help to improve your health while also lowering traffic congestion and pollution on your usual journeys.

Local businesses can also encourage their staff to get involved in healthier commutes to and from work by hosting free roadshows and Dr Bike clinics.

How do I book onto a course?

You can book onto a course directly with BikeRight! either on their website or by calling them on 0151 207 3140.

Where does the training happen?

There are a number of cycle hubs in Knowsley and Halton:

  • Knowsley Leisure & Culture Park, Huyton
  • National Wildflower Centre, Huyton
  • Halewood Environment Centre, Halewood
  • Phoenix Park, Runcorn
  • Town Park, Runcorn
  • Catch Café, Spike Island, Widnes
Do I need my own bike?

No. You can still attend the training and you can borrow a bike and helmet if you need to.

The courses and events will be delivered by cycle training provider BikeRight! and cycling charity Cycling Projects, on behalf of Halton and Knowsley Councils. This has been funded through the Liverpool City Region STEP Revenue funding and supports the Government Growth Deal via the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
