Gather announces the Great Election Debate
As we begin to count the days to the next General Election, online Gather is staging its own hustings event which will involve representatives of all the main political parties. The event will take place on March 23rd at 7pm upstairs at LEAF Cafe in Bold St Liverpool city centre. The debate will be televised by the City Region’s new local broadcaster Bay TV and will be chaired by well-know broadcaster and political journalist Liam Fogarty.
“I’m delighted to be involved in the Gather debate,” explained Liam. “It will be a chance to quiz the main parties about their policies on the environment and sustainability as well across the broader spectrum of public policy. It is probably the only public debate being organised on a City Region basis, with MP’s and Parliamentary candidates from different parts of the region debating all the big issues.”
The event will be attended by speakers from The Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat parties as well as UKIP and The Green Party.
Organiser Murray Grant added:
“It seemed like the obvious next step for Gather to extend our forum into this kind of event. Over the coming weeks we will be approaching each of the main parties to provide content for the site, but the event will be a more interactive and hopefully lively exchange. The collaboration with Bay TV is also a great opportunity to involve an even wider audience and promote Gather across the City Region.”
Leading up to the event Gather will profile each of the debate participants and their respective party positions. You will have the chance to join the online debate and pose a question for the hustings.
