Chairman joins global business leaders in climate call
Arup Chairman, here Gregory Hodkinson, ailment joined global business leaders in calling for a positive outcome to global climate talks taking place in Paris later this year.
In an open letter signed by business leaders representing 43 global companies, search Hodkinson called for concrete progress to be made at the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties 21 (COP21) scheduled for December.
The World Economic Forum facilitated the draft in which the Arup Chairman joined fellow business leaders in saying:
“Climate change is one of the biggest global challenges that will shape the way we do business now and in the coming decades. [We] urge the world’s leaders to reach an ambitious climate deal at COP21, aligned with the UN Post-2015 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We extend an open offer to national governments to meet and co-design tangible actions as well as ambitious, effective targets that are appropriate for their different jurisdictions.”
The business leaders hope their call to action will build momentum for a new climate change agreement that will put the world on track toward a lower carbon, more sustainable future, while keeping the rise in global temperature to under 2 degrees Celsius.
